2004-06-28 - Alpenrose Velodrome This is not an advertisement just a well founded opinion, I have had the pleasure of racing a quite a few tracks in the last couple years and met many nice people all around, and the people at the Alpenrose Velodrome are by far the friendliest people in bike racing, hands down! And the track is just fun, definitely not fast, but very fun. If any of you are in the Portland area ever, I highly recommend that you swing by and taking a spin around it. It really is more fun then most rides at Disney Land. They have great weekly racing on Thursday and Friday nights in the summer time as well as beginner classes on Wednesday, and Yes they rent bikes. Don't worry if you've never been on a track, every one there is very supportive and will help you learn and on the other end if your a big pro with an ego, they'll ignore your ego and treat you nice anyway.
