2005-03-03 - Snap.... clang! clang! clang! This morning my good friend Adam and I were out for a nice easy ride and half an hour into it, my litespeed that every one said I would be able to ride for ever, broke!! clean through at one of the welds on the drive side chainstay. I didn't crash, but had to hang out while Adam rode home then grabbed his truck to come pick me up, then we finished our ride with me on the fixed gear. Check out the pics, I always thought that a bike was strongest at the welds.. I guess not! She has probably been breaking for a while as she broke on a day when I never even got over zone 1 on mostly smooth roads, and she's has held up just fine when I've taken her on bumpy roads and gone over 1500 watts who knows how many times. Thank God for the Litespeed lifetime guaranty on frames, too bad it will take 4 weeks or so to get it taken care of. The litespeed has been my training bike since 2000, I'll miss her while she's gone.
